We are a group of ACA certified instructors who call the western Long Island Sound and the southern Hudson River home. Eager to get on the water for just about any reason, we are passionate about paddling and teaching. There are few things we find more rewarding than working with our clients, seeing the Ah-Ha moments take hold, and watching them utilize their new found skill set. We are experienced at teaching those who haven't spent very much time in kayaks and for those who have, we're always excited to help them tackle some of the more advanced paddling maneuvers.
OUTDOOR SPORTS CENTER
We are proud to be affiliated with Outdoor Sports Center in Wilton. Unequalled in the area for selection, quality and technical knowledge, Outdoor Sports Center shares our vision of building a stronger paddling community through teaching, guiding and service-related efforts. We look forward to providing on-water services in the greater Norwalk and Westport area and appreciate their steady support.
SEA KAYAK CAROLINA
Were there not a Sea Kayak Carolina, it's pretty safe to say there would not be a Sea Kayak Connecticut. Not only have they trained some of our instructors, but they have also provided guidance and support for the creation of our humble business. We are proud to call these folks colleagues, friends and all around first-rate human beings. Should you find yourself in the greater Charleston area looking to explore the tidal estuaries, get out into the open ocean or play in the surf, stop by and see Scott, Sue and William. They'll take great care of you.
THE ORGANIZATIONS WE SUPPORT
THE AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION
A member based, national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling; stewardship support to help protect paddling environments; and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport competition and recreation. We ascribe to their mission and proudly teach under their banner.
KAYAK FOR A CAUSE
Carpe Paddlum is their Mantra which, loosely translated, means challenge yourself to paddling across the Long Island Sound. This organization raises money for local non-profits and is an excellent way to set your sights on the distant horizon and actually paddle there. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday, build you confidence on open water and help out your community. We have participated in the event for several years and provided safety certifications for many of their paddlers.
Not only do we support their chosen method of transportation, but also the causes they help.
CONNECTICUT FUND FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Also known as Save the Sound, this non-profit is dedicated to protecting and improving the land, air and water of Connecticut and Long Island Sound. They keep our paddling grounds clean and, among other things, coordinate regular beach clean-ups on the Long Island Sound. We support their work and the advocacy they pursue.
Probably known by most kayakers as the namesake organization for the Lighthouse to Lighthouse Race, this nonprofit group is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the biological, physical, and chemical integrity of Long Island Sound and its watershed. We support their goals and always look forward to the 14-mile race in September.
